G'Day Racer,

Thank you for the comment - I've found the code very helpful when developing sites for myself and my clients.

Wordpress Shortcodes are generally only 'executable' in the main content of a website, however it is possible to get shortcodes to work in sidebars by adding one line of code to your themes functions.php file.

I've documented it more fully in this article:
http://thewordpresswarrior.com/878/allowing-wordpress-short-codes-to-run-in-the-sidebar

however, the summary is add the line:

add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');

to your themes functions.php file and it should all work.
